BOSE book gives wrong DOB of Gandhi | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, May 14: The Board of School Education (BOSE) is again in news for bad reasons. This time, father of nation, Mahatma Gandhi's life history has been distorted. The BOSE prescribed Urdu book for fifth class has a chapter on Gandhi titled, Gandhiji. The book written by Dr. Mohi-ud-din Buch states that Gandhi was born on October 12, 1869. If Dr Buch does not known when the father of nation was born, he need not write on history. Buch further writes that Gandhi married a beautiful and healthy girl and enjoyed early life. It is a known fact that Kasturba Gandhi was neither beautiful nor healthy. She was a chronic patient of bronchitis which ultimately led to pneumonia. Buch further writes that the news about the death of Gandhi's father was not disclosed to him. The fact is that Gandhi sat besides his dying father for some time and then went to his room to sleep. Secretary BOSE, Professor Veena Pandita has no knowledge of the fiasco. However, she promised to look into the matter. Noted academician, Professor AG Madhosh took serious note of the lapse. He said the BOSE has been feeding wrong information to the students despite its review committees. He said there are mistakes in 10th class books as well. |
