Child labour should be tackled with humane approach: CUK V-C | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, June 12 : Central University of Kashmir (CUK) officiating Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj uddin Fridayemphasized the need to take a more humane view and approach to tackle the Child Labour issue. "The menace of child labour is going on since the start of the civilization and the laws framed by different countries, including India, haven't been able to curb it, as there are families, who are dependent on their children for sustenance," Prof. Mehraj uddin said while giving the valedictory speech during the on-the-spot essay competition on "A Respite to Poor Families: Child Labour is a better alternative to child begging and no law can stop it," organised by the Directorate of Students Welfare in connection with the World Day Against Child Labour, observed today. Cultural Coordinator, Dr. Ihsan Malik also deliberated on the aforementioned topic and presented a word picture about the pathetic conditions in which the children are made to work in factories and other institutions. In the competition, Deeba Rakhshan from the department of Management Studies bagged the top slot while as Rayees Ahmad Khanday of Law department and Wahid Yousuf Lone of English Department won the second and third slot respectively. |
