Early Times Report Jammu, June 12: Intensifying their demand for AIIMS in Jammu, the coordination committee, an amalgamate of several Jammu based organizations started it proposed chain hunger strike today. Chairman of Coordination Committee and President Bar Association Jammu, Advocate Abhinav Sharma along with ten other members of Coordination Committee sat on hunger strike to protest the anti-Jammu and unjust decision of the coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir to shift the sanctioned AIIMS from Jammu to Kashmir valley. Among others who sat on chain hunger strike included Retd Sessions Judge Pavitar Singh, President JPPF, Narayan Singh President Shri Amar Khastriya Rajput Sabha, Anan Sharma, President J&K Tanker Association, Rajiv Chuni, President SoS, Inderjeet Khajuria, President Hotel and Lodges Association, Devinder Chowdhary, President Taxi Union, Peeran Ditta, President Shri Guru Ravidass Sabha, Professor B L Bhardwaj, JPPEF, Shyam Lal Bassan, President Dalit Chetna Manch, and Kapil Sharma, President Dogra Liberation Front. Addressing the gathering at protest venue Maharaja Hari Singh Memorial on River Tawi Bridge, Abhinav Sharma, said, "it is the biased coalition government in the state and certain vested interests in New Delhi who have forced the people of Jammu Province to take to agitational path despite the fact that Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced on February 28 on the floor of the Lok Sabha that the proposed AIIMS will be established in Jammu." He regretted that the rigid authorities unmoved despite the fact the people of Jammu Province observed two massive Bandhs on April 24 and May 27 and organized a very largely participated Torch Light protest march in the streets of Jammu on June 5. Abhinav Sharma said adding that the people of Jammu Province are no longer prepared to swallow any kind of injustice. He said that patience of Jammu Province has already ended and it would be the responsibility of the coalition government if the agitating people take recourse to means which the state government may not appreciate. He further said that there is still time for the biased and fundamentally Kashmir centric authorities to see the reason and concede forthwith their two immediate demands-Establishments of AIIMS in Jammu and completion of Artificial Lake Project over River Tawi at an earliest. In the meanwhile Chairman CC AIIMS Adv Abhnav Sharma announced that the Coordination Committee meeting will be held at the Dharana Venue tomorrow (Staurday) at 11:00 AM Morning and he has appealed to all the Jammu People and specially members of the Committee to join at the Venue Site. |
