Insurance companies claim to have given Rs 2500 Crores to flood hit traders | 90% cases settled till May end | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, June 12: While the business community crying foul over what it terms the inordinate delay in the relief and rehabilitation, the Insurance companies claimed to have settled more than two thousand (over 2000) cases of the flood affected traders and also maintained of releasing Rs 2500 crore as insurance claims. According to reports received here the insurance companies have claimed that they have settled more than two thousand cases of the flood hit traders and that 90 percent of the amounts have been disbursed to the affected lot. Reports mentioned that the insurance companies have disbursed the amounts to shopkeepers, wholesale dealers and distributors. They said that the insurance companies claimed to have settled 90 percent of the total claims they received after the ravaging September floods of the year 2014. It was informed further that till May this year approximately Rs 2500 Crore have been released as a claim amount to the flood affected traders of valley only. If recalled here, the government earlier has come under severe criticism for not extending any assistance to those traders who have no insurance claims and the flood affected families continue to remain up in arms, saying merely 3800 rupees have been given to those whose houses got devastated during September deluge. |
