JKNPP demands resignation of Deputy CM, Forest minister | | | Early Times Report
jAMMU, July 26: The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today demanded the resignation of Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh and Forest minister Bali Bhagat for having "failed" to fulfill their written commitment that an AIIMS will be announced for Jammu by the Centre on or before July 20. "The deputy chief minister Dr Nirmal Singh and Forest Minister Bali Bhagat has brought a disgrace to the chair of ministry they hold, they are bluffing the people and don't have any right to continue to hold the positions", JKNPP chairman Harsh Dev Singh told reporters here today. Singh said that it has been proved beyond doubt that the two ministers along with a couple of other BJP Leaders had made a highly "irresponsible and mischievous" statement on AIIMS only to sabotage the Jammu peoples' movement for their rights. He said that ACC comprising the civil society besides other political and social organisations had called off the last month's bandh call relying upon the emphatic assurances given by the BJP leaders regarding procurement of an 'appropriate order' from Government of India for setting up of AIIMS before July 20. Accusing the BJP of following 'lame duck posturing' on various Jammu related issues besides AIIMS, Singh said that BJP had embarked upon a self destructive course by relegating all its solemn pledges to the back burner and taking a U-turn on all its pre poll promises. He said BJP's tall slogans of ensuring equitable treatment to all regions have ended in with huge disappointment with Jammu and Ladakh regions still clamouring for Justice. Meanwhile some activists of JKNPP held a protest in Jammu and burned the effigy of the deputy chief minister Dr Nirmal Singh as they accused him of betraying with the people of Jammu region. They also demanded the resignation of the deputy chief minister and the forest minister. |
