| GDC kathua celebrates NSS day | | | Early Times Report
Kathua Sept 24, NSS units of Govt. Degree College, Kathua celebrated NSS day today on 24th September 2014 in the college Auditorium. On this occasion, NSS units organized a symposium on the topic "Role of Youth in Social Service" and a cultural programme on National and social consciousness by way of one act play "Kathputli", Western Solo Dance, Cultural Dance of Maharashtra, Patriotic Dance and Punjabi Bhangra.
The programme began with the welcome of the worthy guest, faculty members and students of the college, followed by lighting of the traditional lamp. Dr. Ram Singh, Programme officer presented the welcome address. He informed the house that NSS enrolment drive of all classes is over and 300 NSS volunteers have been enrolled. The celebration of NSS Day marks the formal beginning of NSS activities.
Dr. B.L. Gupta, Principal of the college was the Chief Guest of the function. He welcomed the new NSS volunteers under the cap of NSS who have recently joined NSS Units. He regarded them the novel souls that come forward for social service and social well being with the motto of "Not Me, But You".
The participants were presented Trophies and certificates by the Chief Guest. The formal vote of thanks was given by Dr. Rachna. The programe ended with national Anthem.
