Internet ban in JK leaves youth in lurch | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Sep 29: Hundreds of unemployed youth were seen waiting outside various internet outlets to fill up the forms for jobs advertised by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) during past three days as the ban on internet facilities left them in lurch. While talking to "Early Times" many job aspirants said the government's decision to ban the internet facilities in the state when many unemployed youth are applying for various jobs online added to their woes due to which many aspirants were left high and dry. "I received several calls during three days from students, job aspirants and many others. These were really hard days to undergo through" said Naveen Sharma running ezone computer shop in Kishtwar providing online internet facility to the people. He said that many students who came to Kishtwar to celebrate Eid were left in lurch due to internet ban. He said that their business also suffered badly during these days, added that unemployed youth were desperate to apply for the jobs online. The unemployed youth while talking to "Early Times" extension enhancement of date for filling of application forms online which ended today. They said that slow internet speed also caused lot of headache. "It is really a bad decision to put blanket ban on internet in the state for such a long period---- we are living in 21st century, where such things could be checked by punishing the culprits involved in any mischievous act rather than blocking facilities like internet to all" rued an angry student of Engineering college studying in Haryana college. Pertinently, JKSSB had advertised about 3600 posts in the state and sought online applications from the job aspirants from the state subject holders. |
