Army concerned over radicalization of Kashmiri youth | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 29: The Army has expressed serious concern over the radicalization of Kashmiri youth in the valley. It has asked the Chief Minister to take appropriate measures to cut off the process of radicalistaion which is emerging as a great threat for the State. According to the sources the top army officials in a meeting with the CM at Srinagar gave a detailed account of the increasing incidents of the radicalization in the Valley to the Chief Minister. The army in its report according to the sources said that though the influx of the foreign terrorists is on decline but local youth are joining militant ranks and it could have serious repercussions. The sources said that army officials clearly told the CM that 40 local youth have already joined the terrorism till now this year is a worrying trend. "There are highly radicalized youth and have the potential of attracting much more locals. They are radicalized on the ideology of Salafism and this could pose major challenge to the Kashmir especially its society," the top official reportedly told the CM. Sources said that CM was asked to intervene and take host of steps to defuse the situation. They also suggested that people who raise ISIS or Pakistan flags should be systematically identified and prosecuted to send the signal that nonsense won't be tolerated. The experts have also suggested to the State Government to start the process of the ending the culture of building and running religious schools which are being run by highly radicalized religious teachers and are being aided by funds from across the border and also from gulf countries. "The experts also suggested to start the audit of these religious schools first in a secret manner to send the signals that the government is getting hold of them and then take every possible step to snap their religious discourses going on , on the social media and on whatsApp. It is very important for the State Government to take these steps in its own interests,'; said a top army official. |
