DM- SFC Harnag lands in vigilance net | | | Early Times Report Srinagar Sept 29: Vigilance Organisation Kashmir (VOK) today registered a case against Peer Manzoor Ahmad the then Divisional Manager SFC (Extraction South) Harnag Anantnag for demanding and accepting Rs. 5000/- from the complainant a contractor by profession. According to vigilance spokesperson, a case was registered after an enquiry conducted into allegations revealed that complainant namely Asif Shafi Shah s/o Mohammad Shafi Shah of Hazratbal Anantnag, contractor by profession was allotted a contract for extraction/transportation work of timber on approved rates in compartment No. 28/V and failed to deliver the required quantity of timber within specified time for the reasons that he was to construct a road which was the part of tender and the length of said road exceeded to what was initially agreed to. "The complainant made a representation before the Managing Director SFC for releasing his payments who in turn sought report from the accused Divisional Manager SFC (Extraction South) Harnag Anantnag, the spokesperson said adding, "accused Divisional Manager SFC had received Rs. 5000/- as illegal gratification for issuing favourable report to the complainant." The video clip submitted by the complainant to VOK and the statements recorded during the verification unfolded the fact that the accused officer has voluntarily accepted bribe amount of Rs. 5000/- for issuance of favourable report required for release of payments of the complainant. Accordingly a case stands registered under FIR No. 40/2015 u/s 5(2) & 4-A of PC Act against Peer Manzoor Ahmad the then Divisional Manager SFC (Extraction South) Harnag Anantnag for demanding and accepting Rs. 5000/- from the complainant. |
