KATRA, Nov 21: The annual inter-house football and cricket tournament of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), organised by the sports department, started today at Shrine Board Sports Complex, here. In the opening football match, Vindyanchal Reds (Arsenal) defeated Nilgiri Blue (Ronaldo) by three goals to nil. The second match won by Vindyanchal Blue beating Trikuta Red (Dynamos) 3-0. Next Match: Basholi Red (Mercurials) shall take on Nilgiri Red (Engineers) while Trikuta Blue shall be playing against Basholi Blue.
Meanwhile, in cricket SMVDU Mains defeated Vindyanchal Red XI by three wickets. Batting first, Vindyanchal Red XI scored 104 runs in given 20 overs, which, in reply, SMVDU Mains overhauled in 19 overs losing seven wickets. Saukat Ahmed of SMVDU Mains made highest 43 runs and remained unbeaten. He was adjudged man of the match. Today's matches witnessed besides others by Director Sports of SMVDSB, Ashok Kumar, Dr Ajay Sharma and Sucha Singh. |
