Elderly customer killed by shopkeeper in south Kashmir | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 21: An elderly person was allegedly killed by a shopkeeper following argument over some minor issue in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, official sources said here this evening. The agitated villagers set on fire the house of the accused who has been arrested by police. They said one Wali Mohammad Ahangar was attacked with a lathi by a shopkeeper, Mohammad Shafi Bhat, following a heated argument over some small issue in Patthan village in Pulwama yesterday. The injured was immediately taken to a local hospital from where he was referred to S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS). However, Ahangar succumbed to his injuries in the hospital early today. Both of them were having a heated argument over some issue, so I intervened and tried to pacify things. When I tried to take Ahangar away from the spot, Bhat attacked me with a stick on the head. I was taken away by people present at the spot. Later I learned that Bhat had also attacked Ahangar, who was critically injured in the assault, Ahangars brother-in-law said. As the news of Ahangars death spread in the area, the villagers set on fire Bhats house and shop. Police have registered a case and initiated investigation into the incident, they said, adding the accused has been arrested. |
