World Television Day celebrated | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 21 : Television is one of the most influential forms of media for communication and information dissemination. It is a medium of spreading cultural diversity. In order to recognize the major role television designed to highlight and disseminate the issues affecting the people, the World Television Day is celebrated every year on Nov 21. The United Nations has been observing this day every year since Dec 17, 2006. This day is observed to encourage global exchange of television programmes focusing on issues such as peace, security, economic and cultural and other related issues. Leading figures from the media have been brought together under this forum to analyze the growing impact of television on the lives of people. On the samae lines, the Television day was celebrated today in a special assembly where the role of television and its far-reaching benefits to the viewers were highlighted. The importance of the television cannot be glossed over in view of being a uniting force for togetherness, spread of information, entertainment etc. Especially in today's world where hatred is brewing and causing conflict, war, dissatisfaction and discontentment, the role of television cannot be under estimated. Since our education institutions have students and staff belonging to all communities, it was emphasised to spread message of peace and universal brotherhood through this medium |
