Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 21: In a youth's killing in police firing at Satwari here a few months back, high court judge Tashi Rabstan has issued notice to Home Secretary, Divisional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, IGP, SSP, Jammu and others returnable within two weeks and directed respondents to file status report of the case. The court directive came in a petition seeking a CBI probe into the incident and ex-gratia relief of Rs 25 lakh to the family of Jasjit Singh, who was killed in police firing during protests by the members of Sikh community at Satwari a few months back. After hearing the two sides, Justice Rabstan issued notice to Home Secretary, Divisional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, IGP, SSP, Jammu, and others returnable within two weeks and in the meanwhile directed respondents to file status report of the case. The petitioners sought direction to the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, not to finalise the enquiry being conducted by him in the incident which led to the unfortunate death of the youth in police firing and causing grievous injuries to others and also sought direction to transfer the FIR from Satwari police station to CBI. |
