Non local NIT students to intensify stir in Delhi | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 22 : Continuing to impress upon the authorities to concede to their various demands including security, a large number of NIT students today staged peaceful protest here outside Press Club Jammu in support of their demands and stated that they will continue to stir in support of their demands in national capital. Non Local students from other state have given a call for day long dharna on April 24 at Jantar Mantar New Delhi to further intensify their ongoing agitation. Meantime the NIT Srinagar authorities notified the time table for the resumption of classes from April 25. The resumption of classes were announced when majority of outstation students of NIT Srinagar continue to stay away from the valley and carrying on with their fight with the Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MHRD). The students have given a call for day long dharna on April 24 at Jantar Mantar to intensify their agitation. At the same time they are gathering feedback of the students on whether to return to the campus ahead of resumption of classes or to stay put in New Delhi to carry forward their fight till all their genuine demands are met by the Union Ministry of HRD. According to official sources the NIT Srinagar authorities have now decided to resume the class work from April 25 and have appealed to the students to resume their classes but in response the outstation students have not yet decided on their future course of action. To gauge the mood of the outstation students an online survey has been launched to gather the feedback from the students and know exactly where they can take their ongoing agitation to fulfil the common interests of the students. Meanwhile the parents of majority of NIT students are in a fix and they are apprehending an odd situation in the wake of prevailing law and order situation n ground zero. Pertinently tension started brewing inside the NIT campus, located on the banks of Dal lake in Jammu and Kashmir, on March 31 after India lost to West Indies in semi-final of the T-20 World Cup cricket tournament prompting some local students to rejoice and burst fire crackers. The incident led to protests by outstation students, resulting in clashes between the two groups and situation got worst when local police allegedly cane charged the peaceful protesting non local students. |
