Eventful Thursday in J&K | | | Series of incidents were experienced in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday which should cause concern to the Government and the security agencies. As was expected Pakistani troops resorted to yet another ceasefire violation on the IB in Samba sector. Another event pertained to the killing of three militants in already sensitive Lolab area of Kupwara district, kissing the LOC and the third incident was in the shape of arrest of three militants belonging to the dreaded Lashkar-e-Toiba. According to reports the Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged fire in Samba sector. And the most interesting part of the incident is that while Pakistani troops violate the ceasefire and the moment India gets ready to lodge a protest the Pakistani forces hold Indian troops responsible for ceasefire violation. After every such incident on the LoC or the International Border (IB) both New Delhi and Islamabad allege each other of violating the ceasefire which is in place since 2003.Defence sources said that Pakistan yet again violated the truce by firing small arms in the Samba Sector in Jammu division. Pakistani Rangers this morning violated ceasefire by firing small arms at forward Border Outposts (BoPs) of BSF near Regal Post of Samba Sector. The BSF troops retaliated with similar calibre. However, no injury or damage had been reported in exchange of fire. Since it is close to the LOC Kupwara sector has remained prone to infiltration. Despite the fact that the Army has upgraded the border management so that ingress bids were foiled regularly still between one to three militants manage to cross into Kashmir from across the LOC. And this is indicated by the way Security forces on Thursday killed three militants in a gun battle in north Kashmir's Kupwara district. Two militants were killed early today while as third militant was gunned down later. The encounter took place in Patushai village, police said. Police sources said that one militant may still be hiding in the area. The Rashtriya Rifles and the Special Operations Group of the Jammu and Kashmir Police began the operation after getting a tip about the presence of militants in the area. Again receiving exact information about the presence of militants indicates that there are sections of people in Kashmir who want peace to be restored to the valley. And those who are peace lovers so that their trade could flourish invariably feed intelligence agencies with specific information about the militant hideouts. And similarly information was received by the police about the presence of three militants belonging to the dreaded Lashkar-e-Toiba. And acting on that information the police arrested all three militants who were later found to be local boys from North Kashmir and had been lured by the top guns of LeT. Large quantities of arms and ammunition were recovered from them.In fact the success of the police in nabbing the three militants has spared the city of Srinagar of some Fidayeen type attack which could shed blood and damage the Government and private property. These incidents speak volumes about the sinister designs of Pakistani agencies and their supporters in the valley. It was in the context of these disturbing developments that the Army Chief visited the state and had detailed discussion with the Army commander and the Corps commanders in Udhampur. The over all security scenario was reviewed and that too in the context of the disturbances, in which five people were killed, in Handwara and Kupwara. Luckily the police have succeeded in arresting the rumour monger who had spread a rumour that a girl was molested by an Army man. Luckily the girl and her father were taken into preventive custody and despite the allegations from the mother of the girl that her daughter was molested by the Armyman the brave girl made a statement in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate where she said that two local boys and not the Armyman had molested her. And her statement doused fires allowing peace to get restored to Kashmir. |
