File compliance in 3 weeks in 'Agri-land conversion' case: DB to Govt | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Apr 23 : A Division Bench of the High Court comprising Justice M H Attar and Justice A M Magrey has granted government three weeks time to file compliance report to its directions regarding non-conversion of agriculture land in the state. Hearing a Public Interest Litigation, a division bench of Justice M H Attar and Justice A M Magrey granted the time after additional advocate general N H Shah sought the same from the court. The Court already has directed the concerned Deputy Commissioners in Jammu and Kashmir to stop conversion of agricultural land into residential colonies in their districts and asked all the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to ensure provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Agrarian Act and the Jammu and Kashmir Revenue Act were implemented in letter and spirit to stop conversion of agricultural land. A NGO- Human Watch International has filed the PIL seeking directions regarding the agriculture land conversion into residential housing colonies in violation of law including J&K Land Revenue Act, J&K Agrarian Reforms Act and other Land Laws. |
