Wives of top cops get 'special preference', others left in lurch | Saheb, Biwi aur Ghulam! | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 23: The 2-day long medical camp organized by Police Wives Association (PWA) at Channi here refreshed the memories of old Bollywood comedy Saheb, Biwi aur Ghulam,as the organizers left no stone unturned to appease the wives of top Police officers apparently on the instructions of their husbands to keep the wives of their bosses in good humour. According to patients who visited the camp for check up and treatment said that some tests were advised to them by the doctors and the PWA had arranged these expensive tests out of police fund only for the wives of senior officers above the rank of SPs. The expensive tests of the wives of top cops were reportedly conducted free of cost by the Association while those of other cops less than the rank of SP were asked that facility is not available for them. Sources said that there was a lot of resentment among the wives of police personnel who went for check up in the camp as they were denied the tests by the organizers saying that there is no provision for the same for them. Sources said wives of senior officers, who have higher pay scale, were offered tests free of cost while the wives of those cops up to the rank of Dy SPs were left in lurch. Terming this as cheating some patients who went for medical examination in the camp said what was the fun of holding such a camp when there was no provision for the wives of other cops who are less in rank than SPs. "Organizers should have announced that the camp is for the wives of senior officers only," they added. Sources said that some ladies who were the wives of sub inspectors and inspectors etc were asked by the doctor to get G2P2 AO (Mamography) test conducted which costs Rs 3000 from the open market. However the organizers arranged these tests free of cost for the wives of officers when the expense for the same was borne by the Police Department while the wives of junior officers were openly told that there is no such facility for them. People who had gone for medical examination in the camp said the camp was a mere eye wash aimed at benefiting top police officers only.
