Locals bear brunt courtesy 'mismanagement' at Post Office | | | Early Times Report Poonch, Apr 23: At the time when the competition is on with private courier services in India, the postal department instead of trying to beat its rivals has adopted lackadaisical approach to costumer services at Post Office Poonch which is allegedly working without basic component of services i.e. 'post man.' Poonch residents alleged that there is no postman available at the post office and people have to collect their parcels at their own from the post office. Locals namely Abdul Rashid and Mohd Iqbal said they have booked some 'online medicines' from a medicine company and preferred postal services instead of courier services but to their surprise the parcels were not delivered to them at their home addresses. While speaking with media they said there is no proper arrangement for the customer services and such facilities are being denied to the people. The duo alleged that ironically when they visited the post office at 1400, they found no postal employee in the office despite a large number of people waiting outside. All this is not only forcing people to face inconvenience including students but also is giving a bad name to the centuries old Indian postal services which was once known for its services extended to the remotest area across the nation. They said the timing of this office is upto 1600 but the employees of the post office left their office much before scheduled time which is not only unjustified for customer service office but also is indiscipline on the part of concerned officials. Locals have demanded from higher authorities to take strong action against the officers of the post office Poonch. Meanwhile locals recalled that there was time when the people in remote areas of district used to get 'money orders' timely but now they can't get their parcels even in the peripheries of city what to talk of far flung areas. |
