Muzaffar Baig exposes separatists, says it's jihad in Kashmir | Kashmir unrest | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 13: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MP Muzaffar Hussain Baig has done what no Kashmiri leader could ever dare to even think. He, according to news agencies, told the all-party meeting on J&K on Friday that the ongoing movement in the Valley was an altogether a different type of government. He said it was ISIS-inspired Jihad. The all-party meeting was held at the Prime Minister's official resident and Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the crucial meeting. As per the news gather agencies' report, Muzaffar Hussain Baig said: "The present unrest in Kashmir was different from uprising in 2010. Today, there is new ideology of revivalism of Khilafat and ISIS, post Arab spring, which want to restore Muslim rule across the world. Though there is no presence of ISIS in Kashmir but teenagers are influenced by this ideology and there is change in militant struggle which is inspired by religious ideology and won't be convinced by political concessions". Baig not only said but also told the meeting that "there is network of Madrassas (religious schools) in Kashmir where children of poor get religious education. Unfortunately they are not taught the religion which our Prophet (SAW) gave us but they are imparted politico-religious teaching and anti-India teachings. Unless you win confidence of young generation you can't find solution". Besides, he exposed late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and said his Plebiscite Front was not for the resolution of the Kashmir issue but recapturing power. Baig said "The 22 year plebiscite movement carried out by National Conference patriarch late Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah (was) for his return to power as Chief Minister (and) not for the resolution of Kashmir issue," he said. He also lambasted Pakistan and accused it of looking at J&K through the prism of two-nation theory. Regretting the "role of Pakistan for looking at the Kashmir issue through the prism of two nation theory from 1947 till now but lot has changed in Jammu & Kashmir, Baig unequivocally said: "The present struggle in Kashmir is more a jihad less a political struggle". Now that such a senior leader of the PDP has presented a true picture of facts, it is hoped that New Delhi would appreciate him and undertake steps to surmount the challenges he referred to and hinted at without mincing words. |
