Why Governor silent over irregularities in JU, questions NSF | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 19: While questioning the wisdom of Chancellor of the Jammu University, Governor N N Vohra, the National Secular Forum (NSF) has urged His Excellency to wake up from deep slumber and immediately set the things right in Jammu University and also take to task Vice Chancellor, who is misleading higher authorities vis-à-vis policy decisions, during the Council Meeting scheduled tomorrow. Addressing a press conference here today, NSF vice president Papinder Singh said, "Vice Chancellor Prof Ramji Dass Sharma is busy in implementing his own ideas while ignoring the set norms, statutes and University Calendar. He recently made permanent appointment of three persons as Assistant Professors in Department of Lifelong Learning against two posts. This is unprecedented in the history of Jammu University. But surprisingly, the office of Chancellor kept quiet and didn't take notice." He further alleged that the Vice Chancellor cancelled the interview for the posts of Assistant Registrar at the final stage as his daughter couldn't make it to the final stage, and the matter was taken up in Syndicate that resolved to inquire the circumstances led to cancellation through Crime Branch but, the University authorities instead of launching Crime Branch probe took the matter before Council and get it dissolved. Papinder also took up the matter related to appointment of DDE Director regarding which the Syndicate and Council had approved direct appointment on UGC norms while disapproving rotational directorship but, the Vice Chancellor ignored the resolution of Council as well as Syndicate and followed rotational formula and kept pushing the same in Syndicate as well which is contempt of Council resolutions. |
