| Municipal street lights on day causing loss to exchequer | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 19: On the one hand while general public is suffering due to unscheduled power cuts, on the other street lights of municipal committee are providing light even during the day time. Street light installed by municipal committee in many locations in city were seen lit even during the day time. Some people expressing their great resentment told that these street lights are never put off even during the day time.
Street lights work on 24x7 thus using huge amount of electricity even when there is no need of it. Unscheduled power cuts in scorching summer heat also made people's lives miserable, but the concerned department is least bothered to keep a check on unscheduled power cuts.
If the street lights of municipal committee are put on off mode during the day time, it may save large quantity of electricity and this saved electricity can be used to minimize the unscheduled power cuts.
Neither municipal committee nor the power development department is working to keep a check on street lights during day time and stop unscheduled power cuts to give public some relief in scorching summer heat.
People have demanded from distt administration to ask municipal committee and PDD to work carefully and stop unscheduled power cuts by putting off street lights at day times |
