| Efforts on to douse forest fire | | | Early Times Report
Banihal, Oct 19 : The fire in Banihal forest division continued on second consecutive day on Wednesday. This fire started on Tuesday afternoon in a forest in Alindar area of Banihal.
Yesterday the fire was started in a private land and now it has reached in forest compartment number 43 of forest range Banihal. Teams of forest range Banihal, forest protection force and control room of forest department are on job to control the fire from spreading further. When contacted Range office Banihal Amir Raza said that due to the dry spell this kind of incidents occur.
He said that the movements of nomads in upper reaches can be the cause of incident , however he said that they are investigating the matter but their first preference is to stop the fire.
He further said that teams of forest range Banihal are on Job in day and night and presently the fire is under control.
Range officer said that they are trying their best to control the fire. Range officer appealed to the general public that don't throw any kind of burning match stick ,cigarette or any other burning thing near forest areas.
He also appealed to people don't burn any kind of fire near forest areas. While answering a question RO said that these kind of incidents are sometimes accidental and sometimes intentional. However he said that they are investigating the matter.
It is pertinent to mention that little bushes in the area were reduced to ashes and some mature trees also got damaged. |
