Construction of PHC building abandoned midway, Contractors get final payment | | | M S NAZKI
Early Times Report
POONCH, Oct 19: Abandoned midway, the construction of the building of Health Centre in Pathanateer in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch that was started some five years ago is mocking at the claims of state government to provide quality health care to its subjects even in far flung areas. Locals said the construction of health centre was started some five years ago but the executing agency left the work midway, for reasons better known to it. Locals alleged that authorities reportedly have made full payments to contractors who abandoned works mid way. Sources said a backward village Pathanateer of Mendhar Tehsil is deprived of even primary health care courtesy the lackadaisical approach of officials at health department and the other allied departments. "Locals have to travel nearly 22 kilometres to reach Sub Divisional Hospital (SDH) for treatment despite bad road connectivity," they lamented. "As there is no body to look after this under construction building and some miscreants have even started stealing the bricks and other material, leaving the building in dilapidated condition, locals alleged. "One fails to understand as how to the full payment was made against unfinished and needs to be probed thoroughly", said Tariq khan Gen sect. Press council of Mendhar Poonch "we demand an inquiry in the matter in which some top health officials are hand in glove" he lamented. |
