Resentment brews against JU's proposed move to shutdown Kishtwar campus | | | Early Times Report Kishtwar, Oct 21: In a significant development, the members of civil society in Kishtwar cutting across party lines today threatened mass agitation over the reported plan of Jammu University to close all the University Campuses other than Bhaderwah and Kathua Campus. As per the details available with ET, several people today called on Director Kishtwar Campus Dr. Shoaib Anayat Malik Malik and expressed their resentment towards the reports of proposal to close Kishtwar campus. Resentment was also expressed against Director Kishtwar campus for his conspicuous absence from the Campus since last one year lack of transparency in the working of Kishtwar university campus where employees are without salaries since months. They warned the Jammu University administration over its move to close the Kishtwar Campus or shifting of existing courses from the university campus. The University authorities also terminated the services of 10 Class-IV employees after 8 years of their services recently. People demanded job orientation courses in Kishtwar University campus including BCA, BBA, MBA,MCA, M.Ed and other courses presently being taught in Kishtwar school and colleges. Reacting to the concerns of members of Kishtwar civil society, Director Kishtwar campus assured that he will communicate their concerns to Vice Chancellor Jammu University. Later the members of civil society unanimously resolved to fight against any move to closure of Kishtwar University campus and nominated retired ADDC Kishtwar Raiz Ahmed Zarger as the Chairman of the front . The members also slammed Vice Chancellor Jammu University Professor R D Sharma for his non serious approach towards dealing with the issues pertaining to Kishtwar University campus and other similar university campuses of Jammu region. While talking to ET, Chairman " Save Kishtwar University Campus " Raiz Ahmed Zarger said that he had accepted the challenge to lead the front added that with joint efforts and support from all section of the society, they will win the battle of saving the Kishtwar University Campus which came into existence some 8 years ago. He said that successive governments sanctioned funds to the tune of corers of rupees for construction of infrastructure for university campus and rued the blocking of funds for Kishtwar University Campus since last two years. He rued that despite being thick political representation from the region including MLA Kishtwar Sunil Kumar Sharma (MoS), MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, MLC Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo and Firdous Ahmed Tak, such situation arises wherein efforts are being made to shut the Kishtwar University Campus. He said they will also meet with Chief Minister, Vice Chancellor Jammu University and even if need arises they will also meet with Union HRD Minister and MP Dr. Jitendra Singh (MoS PMO) for help by using good office of all the political parties representing Kishtwar. Among those who were part of the delegation that called on Director Kishtwar campus include Syed Ahmad Shah, Imtiyaz Zarger, Farooq Dev, Dr. Kuldeep Thakur, Dr. Mansoor Qazi, Umar Malik, Sandeep Kumar, Javed Najjar, Touseef Butt, Waseem Saroori and others. |
