Locals allege sale of spurious medicines, concerned officials in slumber 10/21/2016 11:30:33 PM ET Report POONCH, Oct 21: Alleging rampant sale of spurious drugs, People of Poonch have demanded strict action against those indulging distribution of spurious, fake and substandard medicines. According to reports, the chemist shops owners in Poonch and its surrounding areas are allegedly indulged in sale of the sub standard medicines while the concerned Drug Controller Department is in deep slumber. Locals demanded officials from concerned department to raid chemist shops and drug stores to ensure that only genuine and prescribed medicines are provided to the people. Insaaf Movement activist Mohammad Abas Malik, Foji Mohammad Rashid and Farooq Ahmed Rather, in joint statement alleged a nexus between inspector drug controller and medical shops association Poonch which is playing with the health of poor masses in area. They alleged that Inspector drug controller is visiting and checking the shops only in cursory visits while the Medical Shops Association Poonch allegedly offers enticement to official for adopting Nelson's Eye approach towards the issue. Locals and INsaaf Movement volunteers have demanded a high level enquiry to in this regard at an earliest so that the nexus shall be busted.
