| Illegal constructions mushroom in Katra town, admin silent | | | AB Sharma

Reasi, Feb 14: The administration is silent on illegal constructions in Katra town. Locals said a number of illegal buildings are coming up in the town in violationof norms.
According to official sources, over 30 commercial buildings including shopping malls, hotels and guesthouses are coming up. Sources said the owners of these upcoming building haven't completed any of the formalities for getting building permissions.
"From the municipal body to the Revenue department to the district administration, all are silent because corruption rules the roost in the town," said a delegation of concerned citizens.
They said despite brining the brazen violation of norms to the notice of the concerned, no action was being taken against the offenders.
When contacted a senior official posted in Katra while endorsing the public concerns expressed inability to act. "Kindly contact the DC," they said.
Despite repeated attempts the District Commissioner couldn't be contacted for comments. |
