Jammu, Feb 19: Young painters dominated in Painters' Camp organized during Indian Red Cross Mela held at Gulshan Ground, Police Lines, Gandhi Nagar. The Mela is organized by Red Cross Society, Jammu every year. The Mela and the camp were inaugurated by N N Vohra Governor J&K State and First Lady of J&K State Usha Vohra. This painters' camp was organized by Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Fine Arts Society, Jammu. A total of nineteen artists including Raj Bhagat, K K Ghandhi, Sunita Gandhi, Ankush Kesar, Amrit Kaur, Anup Gupta, Sahil Ohri, Bhupinder Singh, Renu Manhotra, Rakesh Kumar, Shakti Kumari, Radhey Shyam, Mahua Gupta, Shivani Khajuria, Virji Virender Sumbli, Narinder Kumar, M Akram Khan, Rohit Verma and Jang S. Verman participated in this camp. The painters created their paintings on different themes like nature, environment, empowerment of women, landscape etc. in mediums like acrylic colours and crayons. Many of the artists like Rohit Verma, Rajinder Kumar, Shakti Kumari, Sahil Ohri, Shivani Khajuria, Radhey Shyam, Renu Manhotra and Bhupinder Singh have expressed themselves in expressionist styles whereas M Akram Khan, Rakesh Kumar and K K Gandhi have executed their works with realistic approach in painting. The fantasy and flight of female figures can be seen in the works of Amrit Kaur, Sunita Ghandhi, Ankush Kesar, Mahua Gupta and Renu Manhotra. In the landscape work of Jang S. Verman fantasy and flight into nature's beauty. and bliss is depicted in acrylics medium. Virji Virender Sumbli has painted imagery depicting Shavist themes in acrylics.
