Like stone pelters, Udhampur truck 'attackers' too want amnesty
2/20/2018 12:30:25 AM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 19: Exhibiting its human face, PDP-BJP government has withdrawn cases against 9000 stone pelters in Kashmir but similar yardstick is yet to be applied for the youth of Jammu region who have been facing various charges. Some of them have been falsely implicated in criminal cases while as some may be involved in a few incidents.
Since November 2017, when state government had announced amnesty for the stone pelters, families of the alleged accused of Udhampur Petrol Bomb attack have been demanding justice.
Families of the arrested youth allege that PDP leadership is discriminating with youth of Jammu region.
In the month of November 2017 when state government had released over 4000 stone pelters by giving them amnesty families of Udhampur youth too had demanded amnesty for their wards also.
The families had said that state government has released 4327 stone pelters involved in 744 cases of Law and Order in Kashmir, while no such proposal was put forth to seek the release of their wards.
In October 2015, police had arrested over two dozen youth of Udhampur on charges of attacking a Srinagar bound truck in which one person had died.
"The J&K government felt the pain of family members of the stone pelters, but the same government did not pay any heed towards the pleas of poor families of Udhampur youth," said a family member of one of the arrested youths.
Family members have been seeking amnesty for their wards but no one is ready to listen to them.
Shockingly all the arrested youth have been booked under PSA with number of FIRs under sections 302/307 and others CrpC acts.
