HC rejects bail of Judicial Officer accused of rape | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 19: Justice MK Hanjura today rejected the bail application of Rajesh Kumar Abrol Sub-Judge (under suspension) allegedly involved in rape case. Justice MK Hanjura after hearing Sr. Adv Sunil Sethi with Adv Aseem Sawhney for the applicant whereas Deputy AG Sanjeev Padha for the State observed that the elements of judicial discipline and the character of a judicial Officer has to be above board under all the circumstances. If a Judicial Officer transgresses the scales of justice the effect would be disastrous and deleterious. The rules of conduct to be observed by a Judicial Officer to maintain the integrity and independence of the Judiciary and to afford the dignity of the office of Judicial Officer have been elaborated in the large number of judicial pronouncement a few of which are quoted above. Therefore, the application for admitting the petitioner to bail cannot be considered at this stage. It entails dismissal and is, accordingly, dismissed with the direction that proper medical care shall be provided to the petitioner, if and when the need arises. |
