Campaign to deport Rohingyas pinches Kashmiri politicians
Double Standards Exposed
3/4/2018 12:02:04 AM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 3: As the campaign to get Jammu city rid of Rohingya refugees is gaining momentum, the Kashmir based parties have started beating their chests and are playing politics over the issue.
These parties are demanding that Rohingyas should be allowed to stay in Jammu and their human rights be safeguarded. "Rohingyas are illegal migrants and have settled in Jammu illegally. They are not the permanent residents of the state and have no rights," said an analyst.
He said, "When Kashmiri Pandits were forced to leave their homes and hearths in early nineties none of the Kashmir based parties opened their mouth. But today they are leaving no stone unturned to prevent the deportation of Rohingyas from the state."
The analyst said, "Instead of focusing on Rohingyas Kashmir based leaders should concentrate on paving the way for return of migrant Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley."
A politician said, "Recently the Pak stooges, including Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Hurriyat dove, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and so-called JKLF chief Yasin Malik, had threatened to launch agitation if displaced Kashmiri Pandits are settled in separate colonies. The terror outfit Hizbul-Mujahideen had even threatened to attack the KP colonies."
He said, "One fails to understand why the genuine demand of the Jammu people to see Rohingyas out of the region is being projected as attempt to communalize the situation. These illegal migrants are a threat to peace and security of the region."
An observer said, "Kashmiri politicians should stop playing politics over the issue of Rohingyas and introspect. Had they shown same interest in re-settling the Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley by now many members of the displaced community would have returned by now?"
He said, "Kashmir based politicians should stop poking their nose in Jammu affairs. We cannot allow our peace and security to be taken hostage by these Rohingyas."
Another politician said that Rohingyas are involved in many criminal activities including flesh trade and drug trafficking. "We cannot turn a blind eye towards the involvement of Rohingyas in the immoral acts and other criminal activities. If we don't act at this point it can prove disastrous for the entire Jammu region," he added.
It may be recalled that Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh during his visit to Jammu region had termed Rohingyas as a threat to security and had assured the people that they would be deported. "The recent attack at the Sunjwan Military Station should serve as an eyeopener for the people who are opposing their deportation," said a politician.
He said, "We cannot rule out the possibility about the involvement of Rohingyas as the areas around Military Station are surrounded by the Rohingyas."
