Refuges have no country....
Kanchan Basu3/8/2018 10:56:41 PM
The 'ROHINGYA' problem is nothing new. The Buddhist 'BARMA' or 'MYANMAR' never recognized the existence of 'ROHINGYA'. In 1947 General AUNG SAN, father of present Prime Minister of Myanmar 'AUNG SAN SUU KYI' tried to recognize all 'Religious and Linguistics Minorities' through 'Panglong Treaty'. But he was assassinated and the attempt fails. Later in Myanmar minorities were neglected. The 'MILITARY JUNTA' did not want to recognize only Fourteen Lac Rohingyas.
In 2012 the Rohingya problem became acute regarding the rape of an Arakan woman by three Rohingyas. There was a 'Communal Riot'. Two hundred lives were lost. U.S.A. Foreign Department says, 'One Lac Forty Thousand Rohingyas raped in Myanmar.' Of course the U.N. High Commission for refugee states the figure as One Lac Sixty Thousand. At that time we see Rohingya's Boats flow tings in the open sea coming out of the river 'Nuff'. But there were no 'Water or Food' in those Boats. No 'Neighboring Country' was ready to give the Rohingyas shelters. Not even 'Indonesia' and 'Malaysia', where major Muslims are lives. In August, 2017 in 'Teknuff' river Forty six Rohingya bodies were found.
Since then the Rohingya is Rakhine district of Myanmar were concentrated by boundaries. The Military Junta said that it would keep them away from the majority Buddhists and there would be no 'Communal Clash'.
Of course the condition of 2017 is different from that of 2012. Suu Kyi won the 'Myanmar Election' of 2015. Suu Kyi to supported Rohingyas before elections did not utter a word after the 'Myanmar Election'. In fact even after wining the election Suu Kyi knows the real power is in the hands of the 'Military Junta'. So after break out of 'Communal Riot' she had said nothing.
This time trouble began from 9th October, 2016. The Rohingya terrorist killed Nine Border Security Force of Myanmar in 'Mou Dao' and 'Rakhen Daoen' city. The Myanmar Army retaliated and Rohingya villages are burning. Rohingyas in group deserting 'Rakhine' and enter in 'Bangladesh'. For the sake of humanity 'Sheikh Hasina' the Prime Minister of Bangladesh has allowed women and children of Rohingyas. A government estimate says that at least Thirty thousand Rohingyas have taken shelter in Bangladesh.
Almost every day 'Army of Myanmar' firing at any boat on the river Nuff. Bangladesh Government protests on 29th December, 2016 because newspaper headlines were Nine Bangladeshi fishermen injured in Myanmar Army firing on 19th December, 2016. Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi visited Rohingya camp in Bangladesh. Possibly she has realized why Rohingya women left their country. On 18th December, 2016 'Foreign Ministers of Asean Countries' meet Suu Kyi at Myanmar to discuss 'Rohingya Problem'. Indonesia and Malaysia put pressure on Suu Kyi for a peaceful solution. The very next day 'Foreign Minister of Indonesia' came to Dacca. In fact this time Dacca has been facing the pressure since the rout in Rakhain. After meeting with Sheikh Hasina the Indonesian Foreign Minister came to Coxbazar. It means how acute the problem was and the Asean Countries look upon it problem.
Now the problem is not confined between the Myanmar Forces and Rohingya Terrorists. Most of the Political Observers of South East Asia think that at present Myanmar Forces are involved in 'Genocide'. That is there not only killing the terrorists but also evicting the Rohingyas. They are trying to evict the Fourteen Lac Rohingyas of Rakhine. It is 'Ethnic Cleansing' in the language of 'Human Rights Activists'. It happens in 'Serbia' and 'Kosovo'. If there are no Rohingya in Myanmar there is no criticism. 'International Opinion' will not go against Myanmar.
Of course there is strong opinion of U.N.O. anxiety of 'Asean Country' warning of 'Human Rights Organization' but Md. Absana of 'Arakan Rohingya National Organization' or Seikh Hasina of Bangladesh clearly know that the reality of Rohingyas are the camps of Bangladesh. None hopes to return to Rakhine. Still they know Bangladesh cannot be their permanent address. Bangladesh has no such capacity. They cannot provide even bare necessities. The Rohingyas know to the backbone how savage were the atrocities of the Myanmar Army particularly to the women. Even if the Nobel Peace Laureate 'Aung San Suu Kyi' admitted that Rohigya women were raped by Myanmar Army, they could have 'Mental Consolation'.
Nobel Laureate 'Malala Yousafzai' and 'Desmond Tutu' in open letter to U.N. Security Council opined that if Myanmar situation is not control properly there will be another Rwanda, Darfur, Bosnia or Kosovo leading to 'Genocide'. Kofi Annan warmed that Suu Kyi and majorities' Buddhists would try to divert the 'Public Attention' blaming the Rohingyas for terrorism. After 2016 bloody clashes under 'International Pressure' the Myanmar Government set up 'Rakhine Advisory Commission' with Kofi Annan as Chairman.
It is said that 'Map is not Territory'. Actually observing from Coxbazar to St. Martin's Island one can feel how close Bangladesh and Myanmar territory is. So affairs of one country deeply effect the situation of other country. As such if there is 'Firing in Rakhine' the 'Rohingyas' cannot but immigrate to Bangladesh.
Going to visit Myanmar in September, 2017 Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not utter the word 'Rohingya'. Rather he tried to appease Myanmar otherwise it would go to clutches of China. There is continuous rivalry between India and China over 'Trade' in Myanmar which is the gateway to the 'Asean Countries'. China is liberally investing in Myanmar and Bangladesh also.
Chinese proposals are - (1) Ceasefire in Rakhine, Stopping emigration of Rohingyas and bringing the 'Refugees back'. (2) Setting up 'Diplomatic Ties' between the Bangladesh and Myanmar. (3) Attempt to 'Remove Poverty in Rakhine' through International Cooperation. China will take the leading part in it.
After the declaration of 'Chinese Three Points Program' on Rohingya problem political experts' say that Chinese objective is to go ahead of India in influencing Bangladesh and Myanmar. Side by side China tries to illuminate its own image in International Politics in respect of Human Rights.
