AB Sharma Early Times Report REASI, Mar 8: In brazen violation of norms, the Police Station Ramsoo here is operating from rented shops without even a toilet facility for the cops, who struggle to perform their duties in sub human conditions. The police station that falls on way to the Shiv Khori shrine, has been operating from two small rented shops. Due to shortage of space, there's no separate room for the SHO while the absence of toilet is proving worse. Insiders said the problem is unimaginable for those detained in the lockup. "While cops manage to respond to nature's call in nearby open areas, those detained are asked to bear with the absence of toilet," said a police official on the condition of anonymity. Sources said in the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flagship Swatchh Bharat Abhiyaan, the J&K Police in 2017 had issued orders that no police station should be without washroom facility. "But such orders were issued for mere completion of formality because the ground situation looks altogether different," said a police official. When contacted a senior police official said the matter would be looked into. |
