Jalandhar, Mar 8: School of Fine Arts at Lovely Professional University organized Art Exhibition 'Matriarchy' to celebrate International Women's Day-2018. On this occasion more than 240 art works were displayed for students to view and appreciate the glory of the women. As the title of the exhibition suggests a form of social order where women are recognized as the heads of families; all of the art-works suggested women's supremacy, strength, lineage and more. The exhibition was declared open by LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal, where the theme of the year "Press for Progress" was held for gender parity. Nukkad Nataks were also organized at the campus to aware students about empowerment of women and eradication of all social-ills prevailing against the women.
Participating women artist-students Charanjeet Kaur who presented her art work 'Featherless'; Aishwarya Saraf came forward with 'Verdict Vision'; Tavleen Kaur showed 'Negative'; Shubhadra Acharya presented 'Love & Lust'; Savita Rani 'Terror'; Navneet Kaur exhibited 'Chin up Princess' expressed unanimously: "We know that gender parity would not happen overnight; however, women across the world are earning marvelous gains day by day. We all women need to have a very strong and coordinating movement on these lines to make our safe and secure existence in the society."
Artist Navneet Kaur cheered up all girl students by suggesting them through her art-work: "Every girl is a princess with a crown on her head and there is no reason to be ashamed of anything." Many other works also showed how social norms and boundaries restrict girls to hide their real-self and be draped. These works, in a way, inspired all women to be prominently visible in the society with great achievements and doings.
