Early Times Report
POONCH, Mar 10: Hundreds of old age Ex Service men in Poonch city, who have served in Indian Army for over three decades are in trouble these days, as the CSD Canteen authorities have disallowed them to bring attendant with them and the quota of items has also been reduced.
Most of the Ex Servicemen have alleged that the Army authorities have reduced the CSD Canteen quota to minimum which is lesser than the quota they have been receiving for many years.
An Ex servicemen said, "The canteen authorities have displayed a new list of items that we can buy in a limited scale which is totally injustice with us" "We have been asked to buy only 3 NO of soaps, 1 KG washing powder, one KG Desi Ghee,1 Pkd Namkeen, 3 pkts of Biscuits, 2 No Stay Free and 2 No of Pencil Cells etc for the whole month which is very less," he rued. The Ex Service men has alleged that with the limited quota issued by the canteen they are unable to run their month and are compelled to buy the required material from the market on higher rates.
Some of the Ex Servicemen have complained that the army authorities have compelled them to come alone in the canteen despite knowing the fact that Ex-servicemen of over 70 years of age are unable to carry the purchased material home, if they (Ex servicemen) say that they can't carry the purchased material alone have to face the wrath of the Army Jawans posted in and around the canteen.
The Army Jawans are not being allowed to meet the Canteen officer or the Camp Commander and have decided to write to Home Minister about the plight of Ex Serviceman in Poonch District
