Jammu, Mar 10: Anganwari Workers and Helpers Union has criticized the state government as well as ICDS scheme, which they termed as the biggest exploitative scheme. Addressing media persons Suman Suri - President Anganwari Workers and Helpers Union said, that ICDS scheme has unleashed all time biggest exploitation of women In the history of post independence India. "We are made to perform a host of duties like that of health worker, pre-school teacher, surveys and to prepare list of beneficiaries 0 to 6 years children, lactating and pregnant mother, supplementary nutrition, co-ordination with MO's, LHV's, ANM's, SSA's, immunization, organized meetings, organized Sneha shivers, referral services, carry out home visits and others But we are paid Rs 3600 to AWW and Rs 1800 to AWWH. No law of equal pay for equal work and minimum wages which is Rs 225 per day, twice as much that of a Anganwadi worker and four times the amount paid to Anganwadi helper in our case", she said. She further said that they were being treated as bonded labours. "Mission I.C.D.S has become the biggest tool of gender discrimination and exploitation of women work force in post independence period. It is the tool of violation of human rights of we women workers. We are the worst victims of state sponsored exploitation for the past 43 years", she said. They requested all social organization engaged in the field of social service, NGO's and other working in the fields of women emancipation, and empowerment of women and human rights and civil society including trade unions irrespective of their political affiliations to come forward in our support. |
