Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 13: The claims of government about denying permission to private schools running illegaly seem deflated.Fact of the matter is that such schools are functioning and openly carrying out publicity of admissions for new academic session.
Many private schools have been operating from congested residential accommodations situated in narrow streets in violation of set norms under SRO-123 putting lives of children at risk in case of some untoward incident happens.
Even the government's claim of closing down such schools which fail to produce the requisite safety certificates have deflated.
They further informed that as per Government Order No. 385-Edu of 2016, dated 05/10/2016, the Government has fixed criteria for permission/ affiliation/recognition of private schools.
For fresh cases, permission / affiliation/ recognition is granted by the Government only after the school fulfils all the requirements/ conditions as specified in SRO-123 of 2010 dated 18/03/2018.
"Around 284 schools that have applied for extension of permission in terms of aforesaid Government Order but were not granted permission due to non furnishing of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from Jammu Municipal Corporation but despite that schools have been functioning with fear and carrying out publicity for fresh admission,"
Some legislators had raised this issue in recently concluded budget session about the violation and demanded the government of putting check on such practice the government had asked in the house that such schools will not be given permission for operating from new session but on the contrary schools have been operating illegally, they said.
Although as per aforesaid Government order, notices were served to the existing schools that don't have three essential certificates including Jammu Municipal Corporation, Traffic Department and Fire and Emergency Department yet schools in city have been functioning without requisite permissions.
