| Ex-serviceman shoots self | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Mar 15: An ex-serviceman resident of Himachal Pradesh, presently working with Defense Service Core (DSC) committed suicide with his official weapon while on duty at Rajouri.
The police after preliminary inquiry said that the deceased reportedly had committed suicide with his service weapon while posted for the security of Army's telecommunication tower at Dassal Jattan in the vicinity of Rajouri town.
The deceased has been identified as sepoy Hukum Chand r/o Mandi Himachal Pradesh and was posted with 1210 'D' Platoon of DSC and, according to police version, had received bullet shot on his chin. Police said the army brought the incident in the notice of local police and a police party headed by Assistant Sub Inspector from Rajouri police post was sent to the spot to complete legal formalities.
"After legal formalities police seized the INSAS gun, empty rounds and other related material from the spot and brought the body to district hospital for autopsy" said Danish Dar, in-charge police post.
"As the body could not reach hospital before 6 pm, the autopsy will be conducted on Friday morning" said hospital superintendent.
Meanwhile police have started inquest proceeding under section 174 CrPC in the incident. |
