Fashion Show "Rage","Nalayak" Band Performance Highlights of Day 1

JAMMU, Mar 16: Sammilan 2018, got underway at Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) campus today. This is the tenth edition of the annual student festival of MIET which has grown significantly over the years, bringing innovative events and activities under its purview. Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director MIET welcomed the alumni, faculty and students describing Sammilan as a credible platform for showcasing the immense talent of the students of MIET and the broader student community. He complimented the student committee of Sammilan on the fantastic arrangements made for the event which encompassed 50+ individual events spanning technical, cultural, sports and literary domains involving 1500 students. The highlight of this year's Sammilan are two Star-Nite's with rock band Nalayak, performing on Day 1 and DJs Progressive Brothers performing Electronic Dance Music on Day 2. The festival was sponsored by Vivo, HDFC, Bobby 74, EII Engineering, CADD Center, OASIS Farms, Hobitual, Brew Bakes, Janta Ice cream and Aptech.
During the inaugural function, students of MIET Music and Dance Club presented enthralling performances to set the tone for the day. Simran, a 6th semester student of MIET who has released a single with T-Series titled "Ranjhana" also performed a medley of her compositions. Varun, a dancer of Dance India Dance fame presented a solo-dance performance. Students then proceeded to participate in competitive events with over Rs 1 Lakh in prize money to be won. Day 1 also saw a Fashion Show, "Rage" in which 11 different teams from different colleges students participated.
Nalayak - the Band concluded Day 1 with an electrifying performance which had the audience spellbound. The band has performed at all major student festivals in the country including those at the IITs and BITS-Pilani.
