BANDIPORA, Mar 16: Militants escaped after exchanging gunfire with government forces after the latter cordoned off Khos Mohalla of Hajin town in this north Kashmir district today early morning. Reports said that Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police, 45 BN Central Reserve Police Force and Army's 13 RR unit cordoned off Khos Mohalla of Hajin town after "specific" inputs about the presence of 2-3 LeT militants in a residential house around 3 am. However, the exchange of gunfire continued for about 15 minutes while as cordon stayed intact, however on searching further "no militant was found," an official said. According to sources that the forces lifted the cordon around 7:30 am, after which the youth took to streets and pelted them with stones. Pertinently on Mar 1, one militant of LeT outfit was killed in an encounter in Hajin area of this north Kashmir district. Whereas prior to this encounter the militants had managed to escape from the village, after which security forces had called of the cordon and search operations in Hajin area. |
