Anti- encroacment drive continues for Rajouri beautification

Rajouri, Mar 23: For the last three months district administration has initiated several projects for beautification of the historic Rajouri town. The plan is to provide parks, parking slots to get rid of frequent traffic jams, ring road, pathways for pedestrians in the main markets, bridges etc.
To construct/complete these projects, district administration has executed two major anti-encroachment drives to retrieve the illegally encroached State /Municipality land and has demolished more than 100 structures including 8 shops constructed by a government office violating the norms.
These illegal encroachments were made in Bela colony, Gujjarmandi chowk, in the vicinity of Abdullah Bridge and in the vicinity of new district hospital.
On March 18, more than 73 structures were removed during anti-encroachment drive in Gujjarmandi chowk and Abdullah bridge area under proposed plan for the widening of the road and have retrieved15 Kanals of prime land worth crores of Rupees.
One of the shop demolished belong to Kuldeep Raj Gupta, vice chairman Pahari Advisory Board who later had claimed to have Cabinet order of the allotment of State land.
Lot of illegal encroachment has also done on the Municipality / state land in the adjoining areas including Malik market alleged people and said administration has not taken any step yet.
"Our first plan was up to Abdullah bridge and under second step further encroachments will be removed including that in Malik market and for that team of officials headed by ACR, Abdul Qayoom has measured the quantum of encroachments and have marked the specifications" said DDC.
After two major anti-encroachment drives the people of Rajouri have come forward to remove the encroachments at their own including in Malik market to widen the road for the restoration of historical Mughal road.
"Meanwhile, 352 shopkeepers in the old city have also been served notices to remove the encroachments (ranging between 2-6 feet) so that the bazaars may be widened" said a senior office
Today people of Jawahar Nagar invited Deputy Commissioner and informed that people voluntarily have decided to remove the encroachments for City Re-development Plan.
"Administration has decided to construct three parking slots in Jawahar Nagar area to accommodate about 400 vehicles besides installations of delineator from Panja Chowk to Chaprian to regulate the traffic" said DDC.
