Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 23: The residents of the Kot Bhalwal and other surrounding villages of area representing a population of about 25,000 people protested against the illegal dumping of garbage, waste, filth and sanity waste in open in village Kafiri in Kote area. Addressing the media persons, Naresh Salgotra Advocate (President} & Chairman Raj Dev Singh jamwal of Raipur Domana Sangarsh Samiti said that every day about 70-90 vehicles of garbage by JMC are dumped in this open area of about 157 kannals by the Jammu Municipal Corporation, which has created a havoc in the area with stink, odour, stray dogs, pigs and vultures and other predators. The entire area is suffering due to such an act of the Municipal Corporation Jammu which the RDS.S termed as illegal, arbitrary and an assault on the right of the people of the viltages, The entire area has come under the shroud of stink, foul odour, garbage and has become a source of nuisance and health hazard for the area. "There is threat of epidemic in case the said garbage dumping in the area is not stalled or regulated under law as per Master plan near the said garbage dumping site/sanitary fill there is degree College where the students study, Sanskrit University and also there is JOA colony being developed by the JDA", they said, adding that Solid Waste Management Rules got incorporated in 2016 repealing the earlier rules and the new 2016- Rules are not applicable but these too have not been considered or implemented by the Govt. as the authorities are not in place, the selection of the landfill is not as per the rules and the duties cast upon the Panchayet have never been considered or fulfilled rather unilaterally the decision has been imposed on the public and all concerned, transferring their village into a living hell in the neighbourhood. |
