Rajouri: Police on Saturday resorted to tear gas shelling and cane charged protesters who pelted them with stones during a protest in Nowshera area of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Reports said that a scuffle ensued after police prevented a rally of locals heading towards the revenue complex in Nowshera to protest the yesterday’s order in which sub-divisional magistrate posts of Nowshera, Kalakote and Sunderbani were upgraded to additional deputy commissioners.
They said that the protesters pelted the police with stones who retaliated with tear gas, triggering further clashes. |
