‘Eliminate local terrorists’ | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 1: Security Forces eliminating thirteen terrorists in separate encounters in south Kashmir's Shopian and Anantnag districts on Sunday is a clear message to local terrorists that they have been given enough chances and they won't be spared. Sources told Early Times that the Security Forces were going slow against the local terrorists due to the "political interference" as the few politicians want to remain in the good books of the separatists by projecting themselves as the sympathizers of the terrorists. Insiders revealed that intelligence agencies recently provided inputs to the security agencies operating in Kashmir about the threat which these terrorist could pose in the coming summer months. "It was after these inputs that security agencies operating in the Valley decided to intensify their operations against the local terrorists," they added. Sources said, "Pak sponsored terrorism in the Valley is sustaining only due to the presence of the local terrorists operating in Kashmir. The terrorist who were killed on Sunday had made the lives of local people miserable in their areas and were involved in many crimes including extortion and looting of banks." They said, "Local terrorists are emerging as a bigger threat than the terrorists who infiltrate into this side from Pakistan occupied Kashmir. These local boys are well aware about the topographies of the areas and know who are the people, whom they can intimidate and extort money from." An official said, "Police and other security agencies have made numerous attempts to reach out these terrorists through their families. We have given them enough chances to lay down the arms. These people rather than reciprocating our gesture are leaving no chance to attack us and snatch our weapons." He said, "Last month Union Home Secretary visited Kashmir and he made it clear that government wants summer months to pass off peacefully. He told the top officials that security agencies should act on the inputs provided by the intelligence agencies and launch a decisive operation against the terrorists." The official said that Sunday's operation was just a beginning and in coming days many more operations would be launched to eliminate the terrorists irrespective of them being locals or foreigners. "People who would disrupt the anti-terror operations would have to face the bullets for siding with the terrorists and the anti-nationals. Hopefully south Kashmir would be clean before the onset of the tourism season and the commencement of annual Amarnath pilgrimage," the official added. |
