SKUAST-J organizes Animal Health Camp | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 5: Animal Health Camp was organized at border village Koratana Khurd under the DST funded project entitled "Enhancement of Livelihood security among Livestock rearers through Technological Interventions". Approximately 40 dairy farmers participated in the programme in which 167 more than 167 animals were treated for various ailments by the experts from Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & A.H. Experts from different disciplines displayed new technological interventions and showcased new horizons in the field of veterinary Medicine for boosting the rural economy to new heights. Farmers were demonstrated the benefits of ultrasonography in pregnancy diagnosis and reproductive health of dairy animals. Farmers were made aware of the benefits of supplementing mineral mixture, regular deworming and disease prevention programme like vaccination. Medicines, dewormers and area specific mineral Mixture were distributed among livestock rearers. Besides taking the treatment of their animals, door to door service was provided in the village and portable ultrasound machine was used to carry pregnancy diagnosis and to diagnose fertility disorders in the village. The enthusiasm among livestock farmers encouraged a healthy response and farmers demanded more such camps in near future including farmers from nearby villages like Bega, Suchetgarh, Abdullian and chanduchak. The camp was attended by Dr. Ravleen Kour, Principal Investigator, Dr. Manmeet Singh, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dr. Vinit Singal and Dr. Harjot Singh and concerned Sarpanch Swaran Lal. |
