Early Times Report

Jammu, May 5: A well attended literary function of young writers named 'YUVA SAHITI' was organized today evening by Sahitya Akademi New Delhi at KL Sehgal Hall Jammu. The programme in which five young writers participated was planned and designed by Darshan Darshi (DK Vaid), a renowned poet, author, literary critic and columnist and a former KAS officer who is currently holding the prestigious position of Convener of Dogri Advisory Board at Sahitya Akademi New Delhi.
Romesh Mehta, former Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages and a well known poet and editor, presided over the function.
In his address he appreciated the crucial role being played by Central Academy of Letters to encourage and promote literature of regional languages like Dogri, providing a great platform of national integration by bringing various Indian languages nearer to one another. Earlier, Darshan Darshi in his welcome address, stressed upon the need to support and encourage the young creative writers of Dogri. He exhorted the youth to be dedicated practitioners of different genres of Dogri literature and more importantly brace the challenges of promoting their mother tongue as young and passionate ambassadors of Dogri. Regional languages are going through difficult times and there is dire necessity of talent and energy of the youth to bring better days for the mother tongues, he said. The programme was compared by the eminent poet, Gyaneshwar while the first to come on stage was Ganga Sharma who read her paper entitled 'Dogri Sahitya Ch Yuva Lekhan di Sahiti'. This was followed by a story reading session wherein Radha Rani and Manoj Heer read out their short stories. The session was concluded with Kavita Path by Braham Dutt Mangotra and Harsh Kalotra.
Vote of thanks was presented by Gyaneshwar and the audience comprised top functionaries of various literary sansthas, faculty of Post Graduate Department of Dogri University of Jammu, renowned writers, theatre personalities, artists and research scholars.
