Past experience of unilateral ceasefire was quite bitter: Prof Chaman Lal | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 18: Emphasizing for greater vigil during ceasefire in the holy month of Ramzan, the former Union Minister Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta said that though the past experience of such a unilateral act was quite bitter, the New Delhi this time seems to have been more guided by the wishes of the mainstream politicians of Kashmir, who had been pleading for such a halt to anti-militancy operation in the troubled Valley so as to give a chance to the peace. But the sad happenings, both at the borders as also in Kashmir, clearly indicate that the gesture of the Centre has little regard even to the holy days although the jehadis try to link their moves and acts with the religion to exploit the sentiments. Prof. Gupta said now it is the moral duty of mainstream politicians to use their influence, if any they have over the perpetrators of violence to impress upon them for a thaw at least during the holy days to refrain from violence and inhumane acts of loot and plunder. He said that the manner in which the ultras and their upper ground elements had been acting clearly indicate they are just mercenaries but their real masters are else where at whose dictates they indulge in death and destruction dance. But the question still remains that for how long this would continue to happen and neighborhood would be used for all this. All the concerned must ponder over the problem. |
