Early Times Report

Rajouri, May 19: A rape victim has threatened to commit suicide in a video, which is now viral on social media, alleging the police has not arrested the accused even after three years of her complaint.
The complainant alleged that police have failed to arrest the accused under the influence of political pressure while police has been claiming to have proved rape case against the accused who is deliberately evading arrest. Alam Bi wife of Shamas Din r/o Panja in August 2015 approached the police against Vikram Sharma s/o Tilak Raj Sharma r/o Khark , both under Kalakot police station in Rajouri district, for forcibly committing rape with her.
Police on her complaint booked Vikram in case FIR No.43/2015 under section 376 RPC. After few days a woman namely Anwar Begam w/o Munir Hussain r/o Dharamshal approached Kalakot police against the husband of Alam Bi alleging he had committed rape on her. On the complaint of Anwar Begum police also booked Shamas Din in case FIR No.45/2015 under sections 109 and 376 RPC. Alam Bi/ her family and his family alleged that a fake rape case was lodged against Shamas Din on the behest of Vikram Sharma to pressurize/threaten her/ her family members. "Even I have approached the Minister, AG Kohli along with application but no action was taken," said Alam Bi. On Friday Alam Bi and her son Mohd Tasveer visited police station and expressed their resentment against police inaction. "My father was arrested by the police about 15 days ago while Vikram was moving freely. If my father has committed the crime he will face the consequences, if proved. We want Vikram's arrest and action against him, " said Mohd Tasveer.
Inspector Darshan Singh, SHO, Kalakot when contacted said that both the cases have been proved by the police and are ready to be produced in the Court.
"The process to finalize/prove both the cases including legal formalities, meeting/ solving technical requirements including delay in getting of FSL reports in proving the crimes has consumed lot of time. Brother of Vikram has been rounded up so that Vikram may be arrested soon, " said SHO, inspector Darshan Singh.
