Miscreants in Valley pelt stones on troops | Holy Ramzan's first Friday | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 19: The announcement of unilateral ceasefire during the holy month of Ramzan by the central government has no bearing on the actions of the stone pelters in Kashmir Valley. On the second day of the holy month of Ramzan on Friday, the stone pelters again did what they are notorious for: pelting stones on security forces, thereby denouncing the unilateral ceasefire call of the central government. Responding to the protest call of the separatists to express solidarity with Palestinians, a series of violent protests were held in several parts of the Valley following the Friday prayers. In Srinagar's old city area of Nowhatta, after attending the Friday prayers in the historic Jamia Masjid, the youth came out and started raising pro-Pakistan, anti-India and pro-azadi slogans. The agitated youth were holding Pakistan flags as well as that of terrorist outfits like ISIS, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad and Al-Badr. Besides, the protesters were also seen carrying posters of slain militants. The protesting youth also pelted stones on the security personnel deployed there. "These stone-pelters have neither honoured the sanctity of holy Ramzan nor care for the ceasefire announced by the Modi government," a local resident told Early Times. "At least for the sake of Ramzan they should have let the people offer Friday prayers without any fear," she said. "But they want to keep provoking police and CRPF troops. The people should see through their designs. Violence has already hit us hard," the woman added. |
