APS Damana organises Global Mock UN Conference | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 19: Army Public School Damana celebrated internationalism by organizing Mock UN Conference at Sand Model Multi- Utility auditorium of Chenab Brigade. The event was inaugurated by the Chairman of the school, Brig Abhijit Chandra, SM. The simulations of Mock UN revolved around the theme 'Expanding the Rights of Children' and it was aimed to sensitize students about the global issues, brain storm and plan collaborately as well as to develop their leadership and problem solving skills. Students from CBSE Schools including Army Public Schools and Public Schools of Jammu represented various countries with an invested interest in global affairs and UN policies so that they work collaborately on the real world problems. During her keynote address, Dr Renu Gupta, Principal, APS Damana highlighted the initiatives of UN to protect and safeguard the rights of children and the sustainable development goals. The Mock UN introduced rules of procedure that closely represented how the United Nations function followed by a discussion on a particular agenda topic in the conference. During the Mock UN conference, delegates took on the roles of foreign diplomats, debated international crisis, negotiated global issues, drafted and adopted resolutions. The most innovative and feasible resolution was envisaged by the delegates from APS Damana representing, India. The Mock UN at APS Damana pictured good governance and the ideals of democracy as one of the core values of United Nations. |
