Army Post in Bandipora attacked, commandos rushed | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 5: Militants carried out an attack on a police station and an adjacent army camp in Jammu and Kashmir's Hajan town, an official said on Tuesday. Sources told that militants attacked the police station in Hajan and the army camp next to it with rocket propeled grenades and automatic fire. The exchange of fire was happening when this report was filed. Sources said militants fired at least six rocket propeled grenade and the two installations. A group of militants opened indiscriminate fire upon the army's 13 RR camp which also has a police station and SOG camp in the vicinity, news report said. A senior army officer confirmed the attack and said that the 'fidayeen attack' possibility cannot be ruled out. Additional reinforcements of army's Para Commandos have been called and are being rushed to the spot, sources said. Meanwhile, sources said that announcements were made via public address system asking people to come out on streets following which clashes erupted near the site. |
